The IYOG2022 will celebrate the essential role glass has and will continue to have in Society. The International Commission on Glass (ICG), along with the Community of Glass Associations (CGA) and the Glass Art Society (GAS) are promoting a United Nations International Year of Glass for 2022. It will underline the technological, scientific and economic importance of glass - that transparent and enabling material underpinning many of our technologies and which can facilitate the development of more just and sustainable societies to meet the challenges of globalization. Glass is also an art, its a history sharing the story and evolution of humankind. Extensive planning is now underway including a kick-off meeting in Geneva, the ICG congress in Berlin, a worldwide congress focused in glass technology in China, a global art/history congress in USA and a closing congress in Japan.
