This APEGG training course is for production personnel who need to know how to prepare the “perfect” gob for glass container production (bottle & jar). During this course students learn the fundamentals of gob shaping and how a “bad” gob influences the quality.

This training course is split into 4 topics:

The Gob

Learn the characteristics of the “perfect” gob and understand the key parameters required to form a suitable gob for NNPB, BB and PB production.

Glass Condition

Before a gob can be formed it is necessary to have homogenous glass coming into the spout, get an overview about the importance of glass temperature and its effect on the gob. The pull effect on glass temperature will be explained.

Feeder

A full understanding of the different equipment and parts on the feeder is necessary before a gob can be formed, learn about the feeder so its operation becomes easier. The student will learn what kind of preparations are necessary before gob forming.

Gob Shape

After the students have learned about the “perfect” gob, glass temperature and feeder equipment, the process of gob shaping is explained. The influence of the plunger cam, shear cam, differential, orifice ring, plunger height & stroke, and tube height on the gob weight/shape are explained.

The APEGG Gob Forming Training is perfect for new starters and experienced people as it deals with the fundamentals of gob forming. This course gives the inside and understanding of why gob forming is so important in the production process and how to make the “perfect” gob.
It can be useful for students to attend the APEGG Glass Condition Training as it deals with the question how to condition the glass at the right temperature ready for gob forming.

All active students will have access to:

APEGG Glass Container - Gob Forming Simulator (desktop application) for one (1) calendar year. This simulator is training tool to practice in a virtual 3D environment gob shaping, without the need to interrupt production.
